Anger: Is it Working For You or Against You?

Today I talk about anger. How many people do you know that have been affected by anger? I'm sure you can think of more than a few. It's amazing that people can become someone totally different than they normally are simply because they're angry. I'm sure you can think of someone who is one way when they're calm but a totally different way when they're angry. It's sad to say but some of the people who exhibit this type of behavior belong to the church and call themselves Christians.

I'm not here to criticize nor judge I merely observe. Everyone is the "model Christian" until they get angry. Why? If you were to see someone in church singing great or preaching a superb spirit filled sermon but then right after church they were cursing and yelling in anger how would you see them then?

If anyone is supposed to be the example it's supposed to be those of us who profess to be Christians. If you were to see a display of anger from a person who you respected to be a church leader you would lose respect for them but why? Is it because you can't identify with getting angry? Haven't we all got angry and said some things we shouldn't have said? Yes. So why lose respect for a church leader? I'll tell you why, it's because you expect a person in that position to be able to control themselves. You expect one

in that position to be able to handle being angry without losing their presence of mind. When you don't see that you begin to lose respect because you thought they were stronger than that.

I want to impress on your mind that the devil works in your life to do exactly that to you. He wants you to lose your cool so that you can make yourself look and act like a fool. I'm here to remind you that you have remain in control. Not only for yourself but for your legacy and what you're trying to build. The devil works to destroy that. He searches for a place to come in and destroy relationships, marriages, friendships, as well as parent-child relationships. Don't give him that opportunity. Remember that God has you placed where you are for a reason. You are the light in that dark place. You are there to BE the difference. Today I remind you to pray and ask God help you to control your anger. Pray this simple prayer with me:

My Father in heaven, I have an issue with my anger. Sometimes it gets the best of me, but I don't want that to happen anymore. I don't want my anger to destroy the things I have worked so hard to accomplish. I need you God to help me stay calm and remember to acknowledge you when I get angry or frustrated. Lord please help me get better in dealing with this emotion. In Jesus name amen.
