I believe there is something to be learned from NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick. The thing that took the nation by storm last season is the stand (or kneel) he took to show his stance towards racially charged events in the nation. I must personally say that I respect anyone who has enough courage to take a stand for what he/she believes in. This is America and freedom of speech should be utilized in various ways. Has that decision impacted his career as a starting quarterback this season? In my unbiased opinion. . . YES! I love football. I absolutely LOVE football, but I don't agree with their decision to treat a great athlete as though he hasn't already proven himself. Football is about whether or not a man can play the game well and Colin Kaepernick has proven this time and time again.
I will say this with authority: whoever gives this quarterback a chance will not regret it. Colin Kaepernick is a great athlete and a great player. This is not my favorite quarterback (let me say that) I just feel that the game should respect a man who makes a stand against injustice. On any level.
To all the young people reading, this don't allow anyone to stop you from utilizing your freedom to stand up for what you believe in. The road may get tough but don't hesitate to stand up for what you believe in. Colin Kaepernick did a great thing last season and that shouldn't get in the way of continuing a great career. This season I hope and pray that Colin gets his chance to once again prove what he can do.
